Role Overview 

In this role, you will use your solid writing and reporting skills and passion for or hunger to learn about education, e-learning, and international development issues. As a key member of our content team, you will thrive in an ever-changing environment that will allow you to write a mix of blog posts, news reports, trend pieces and narrative features — helping produce world-class marketing, social, journalistic and data-focused research content. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Researching then reporting, blogging and writing articles and social media posts on news, trends and developments in the field of international education and e-learning. 

  • Engaging in human interest storytelling on how education and e-learning is changing people's lives around the world. 

  • Writing on breaking news, current events, and pop culture as they impact education, e-learning, and international development issues and vice versa. 

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with reporting sources that include experts in the fields (in the U.S. and around the world).

Qualifications 

Basic 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Media or Marketing.  

  • 1-3 years of professional writing experience in a news, media or nonprofit organization. 

  • A grasp of (or interest in learning more about) the fields of education, e-learning, and international development. 

  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to recognize news and trends in education and e-learning to conceptualize relevant posts and stories. 

Ability to incorporate editorial feedback to fine-tune and polish work 

  • Solid internet research skills. 

  •  

Preferred 

  • Some knowledge of SEO writing. 

  • Experience posting on Wordpress.

This is a volunteer position. There will be no financial compensation. Our organization is 100% volunteer-run. We welcome volunteers located anywhere in the world, as long as they can connect reliably to the internet.
