Role Overview 

The Technical Recruiter will handle volunteer recruitment for our Product Development Organization. In this role, you'll be tasked with identifying, screening, assessing and attracting candidates for technical roles within our organization on the front lines. You’ll have a dual reporting line to HR and PDO.  

From reference and background checks to initial screening interviews to follow-through on departmental candidate referrals, you’ll be the go-to for all things recruitment. 



Essential Functions 

  • Assist with writing, posting, and updating open positions on help wanted sites.  

  • Screening resumes and prequalifying candidates. 

  • Source potential candidates on niche platforms, like Stack Overflow and Github. 

  • Technical expertise with an ability to understand and explain job requirements for IT roles. 

  • Conducting prescreening phone interviews with candidates for technical roles. 

  • Communicating organization information during the screening process. 

  • Making candidate referrals to departmental directors. 

  • Coordinating interviews between candidates and the hiring managers. 

  • Following up on the interview process status. 

  • Staying informed on organizational structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.

Key Relationships 


  • Add positions consulted for this role, both internal and external. Also include direct reports, if any, and level of supervision. 





  • 1-2 years of verifiable work experience in recruiting. 

  • Technical expertise with an ability to understand and explain job requirements for IT roles. 

  • A track record of hands-on experience with various aspects of the candidate selection process. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct effective, probing interview with candidates on all levels. 

  • Excellent decision-making skills. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 

  • Experience working remotely as part of a small team. 

  • Can work a minimum of 10 hours a week for at least 6 months. 




  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Human Resource Management. 

  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS). 

  • Experience working remotely as part of a small team. 

  • Experience working in a start-up company, non-profit or entrepreneurial environment.
